The first iconic season of RuPaul's Drag Race premiered on February 2, 2009. It featured nine queens competing to become "America's Next Drag Superstar". The show had a similar format to then-popular America's Next Top Model, almost mocking it in an excellent draggy way. Still, you couldn't stop falling in love with the queens' personalities and the raw format of the show. BeBe Zahara Benet was crowned as the Winner and Nina Flowers as Miss Congeniality on March 23, 2009.

The queens met Ru on the runway for a vogue battle mini-challenge. For the main challenge, each queen had to come up with three looks: Swimsuit, Executive Realness, and Evening Wear inspired by an Absolut vodka flavor.

In this episode, the queens had to makeover five female fighters after an exercise and endurance mini-challenge. They also had to coach the fighters on how to give a lip sync performance to Beyoncé's "Freakum Dress".

This episode was all about makeup; it started with a mini challenge where the queens were paired up and did each other's makeup. For the main challenge, the queens had to create a commercial for Mac's Viva Glam makeup.

Girl Group Challenge
The queens compete in a mini challenge taking pictures acting with different emotions and split into two girl group teams. Ongina chooses Nina Flowers, Rebecca Glasscock, and Shannel for her team and they perform "Say My Name." Akashia chooses BeBe Zahara Benet, Jade, and Tammie Brown for her team, and THEY perform "Independent Woman."

Drag On A Dime
In this first episode, we get to meet the queens starting with a sexy photoshoot on a car while getting doused with buckets of water. In the main challenge, the queens had to make an outfit out of items from a thrift store and present it to the judges on the runway.
